A Note About Insurance. Dr. Maloney is not an in-network provider on any insurance panels. If you choose to submit for reimbursement through your insurance company, please contact them in advance to gather accurate information about your coverage for out-of-network benefits and to gain authorization before the first session if required by your provider. My billing office will provide an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company to reimburse you.

If it is financially necessary to use insurance benefits to pay for counseling it is important for you to be aware of the following information about submitting mental/behavioral health claims:

  • All insurance claims require a medical model diagnosis for reimbursement. If one does not exist the claim is often denied. When one is given this can affect or limit future insurance coverage and may inhibit certain employment opportunities.

  • The insurance company, not you, decides how many sessions are appropriate for your treatment.

  • Certain private information, even under new HIPPA privacy policies, is shared with your insurance company if you submit a claim.
